Read-In Object
--------------
First left, third row down, Menu 3. Click on this and a selector
box comes up. Select the shape to clip out as an object, it can
be rectangular, oval, a self-defined polygon or a lasso (freehand
drawn) outline. What you are basically trying to do is copy the
bit you want from the picture, while avoiding the rest!
Next click on one of the numbered object boxes, to load into. The
selector box disappears and you have an expansible rectangle or
oval shape, or a cross-cursor, with which to define the object's
boundary.
To use the lasso or polygon, click on a starting point with the
left mouse button, and release. Draw the boundary. With the
polygon you must left-click each time you want to change direction
and when it is complete you depress the left mouse button, hold it
down and click the right (then release left). The lasso finishes
with a left-click.
Once the boundary is defined a box appears asking for a name (or a
number) for the object, up to eight characters long. Enter a name
- you don't have to, but it avoids confusion later if you add two
more objects - and hit RETURN. The object is now held in memory.
Issue Object
------------
Second from left, third row down, Menu 3. Click on the icon and a
selector box appears.
Select the style in which the object is to be issued: normal,
default fill-patterned etc. Click on the object's box, and the
object appears; it is free-moving and can be positioned on the
picture whereupon a left-click will paste it in.
You can pre-select whether an object is solid, colour-reversed or
transparent via the Graphic and Text Mode selector box at the
extreme right of the Icon-bar.
An object may be copied into the picture as many times as you wish
by repeating the locate and click procedure. It also remains
available in memory till it is replaced, or the program ends.
See also the top-line menu items "Save Object" and "Load Object".
Zoom
----
The zoom is activated by clicking on the magnifying-glass icon at
the extreme bottom-right of Menu 3. It is a fixed size.
A rectangle appears - place it over the area you want to magnify,
and left-click. You can chose whether to draw with a line, a
polyline (one which need not be straight), or single pixels; or to
form a square or circular outline shape. The drawing colour is
selected by clicking on the black rectangular area in the lower-
right frame of the zoom screen, or on the white rectangle above
it - the chosen colour is indicated by a diagonal cross. You do
not need to change colour if using single pixels, a left-click on
a white pixel turns it black, and on a black turns it white.
Move the zooming left, right, up or down via the arrows in the
corners of the frame. The '+' and '-' boxes at the bottom change
the speed of scrolling. 'Replace' mode is normal, XOR makes black
laid on black turn white, and vice-versa. Exit with a right-click.
